Skin polishing also goes by the terms ‘skin brightening’, ‘skin exfoliation’ and ‘microdermabrasion’. Skin polishing generally refers to a technique to improve the skin, its texture, improve acne, fine lines and spots around the skin. It is a way to improve your skin by making it more smoother, brighter and softer. The skin becomes more radiant as the dead skin is removed by killing the dead cells. This is a great method to reverse skin damage.

It can be carried out at home or at the dermatologist’s clinic. It should also never be performed without the advice of a skin expert.

This treatment requires the individual to attend various sessions and the skin is polished every time to make it look more appealing. It is widely used to provide the skin with the nutrition it lacks, and the dead skin cells are efficiently removed.

This treatment is safe and suitable for all skin types and the peeling method or dermabrasion is gentle and highly effective on the skin, nurturing the skin with every session. It is not a long process, consuming around 45 minutes in one session. There are barely any side effects to this treatment, as the skin is exposed to making it better in appearance and feel. The skin might undergo a temporary redness after the session, which wears off as the time passes.

Skin polishing is not only limited to the face and can be used on the neck, back and even the hands. Stretch marks, hyperkeratosis, scars, disorders, pigmentation, uneven skin etc., can be immediately cured with the skin polishing technique which promises a lifetime of healthy appearance, from the inside and out.

How is the treatment done?

Skin polishing is a very easy and gentle treatment and can feel very similar to having a facial. In the session, prior to the treatment, the face would be thoroughly clean to ensure it is devoid of any makeup or other chemical products.

The dermatologist would then use the microdermabrasion head, multiple times around the face as that would help exfoliate your skin and lighten the scars or marks on the skin. This procedure would be carried on for around 30 to 45 minutes in one session.

This simple treatment would just require the individual to lie back as the equipment takes control of the skin, removing the dead cells and giving the skin a new life. Every pore of the skin would be gone through as the microdermabrasion head would suck up the dead cells and nurture the skin to make it look fresher and smoother in appearance.

The session would be followed by the application of creams or serums on the skin to heal the open pores and close them to retain the treatment. The skin might be subjected to redness, which would wear off with time and the cream or serum would help to prevent any further side effects.

Once the redness goes, the skin would feel lighter, softer and smoother and the individual can continue sessions to fulfill the requirement he or she wishes to achieve.

Who is eligible for the treatment?

Adults can generally be an exfoliator to undergo the skin polishing treatment as it is a great method to cure lines, scars and other environmentally damaged symptoms from the surface of the skin.

Who is not eligible for the treatment?

People exposed to worse symptoms that need treating ths kin on a deeper level cannot undergo this treatment.

Are there any side effects of skin polishing treatment?

There are minimal side effects to this treatment. It is a very gentle procedure that resembles a facial. This treatment can cause a little redness after the session is complete, but wears off with time, giving the individual the soft and smooth skin he is expecting to achieve after the session.

What are the post-treatment guidelines?

Individuals undergoing the treatment are advised to steer clear from the sun. Sunscreen should be sufficiently applied for protection against the sun.

Any kind of sauna, sunbathing or steam treatments should be avoided for the next 7 days after this treatment.

After one session is complete, the individual is advised to wash the face only after 6 to 8 hours. A mild face wash should be used instead of harsh soaps.

Every session should be followed by a break of 3 to 4 weeks, giving the skin the time to heal and rejuvenate properly.

Any kind of application should be avoided for the next 3 or 4 days after the treatment.

How long does it take to recover?

A standard treatment session of skin polishing continues for about 6 to 12 weeks, hence no sooner than this does the skin start to show improvement, in terms of reduction of marks and scars, or the removal of dead cells to brighten the skin, making it smoother and softer at the same time as well.

Are the results of skin polishing treatment permanent?

The results of this treatment are semi permanent as it helps making dull skin look brighter, smoother and softer. However, if the skin is not taken care of properly, the same state returns after which this treatment needs to be undergone again. However, for symptoms like scars, stretch marks, hyperkeratosis and others, skin polishing acts as a permanent cure to give the individual an appealing appearance like never before.
